My Sister *sigh*
Tanya Tyler (radio/actor name), #1 Radio DJ, Actress, Single Mom, Bass Fisherwoman!
She has been dating a Pro Bass Fisherman for about a year now. Not only did she quickly become smitten with Tyler, but she also got "hooked" on bass fishing. She absolutely loves it and him! So much so, that we spent hours yesterday with my Aunt & Uncle in an uncomfortable car driving to Lake Roosevelt to be there in time to see Tyler weigh in. He is fishing in a Bass Tourney this weekend and though she didn't realize it, that is all she could talk about yesterday. We wanted to looking for some Native American jewelry and she kept saying that there was some up in Colville (very near Lake Roosevelt) she was sure of it. We didn't find any jewelry but we did find Tyler ;-) And arrived just in the nick of time to see him put his bag of bass on the scale. He had no idea that we were coming and when Tanya called his name and he looked up and saw us all, he was just beaming from ear to ear. She snapped this picture and it was perfect. Long drive, and uncomfortable car or not, that smile on his face was worth it all. He was so happy to have us all there and see that weigh in. It makes me grin and get emotional even now just to remember the smile on his face and hers. He will fish again today, the last day. We are keeping fingers and toes crossed for him that he has a great catch. That all fish are still alive at weigh in (if any die in the livewell before weigh in, they are disqualified by 1/2 pound, all fish are catch and release), and the weights are high! Go Tyler!! UPDATE: Tyler came in 7th!! Way to Go!! Ty!!!
Family Reunions
This picture is from the 4th. Aunt Faye & Uncle Burt are in the blue tee shirts.
We had a "slumber party" at my sisters house on Friday night. Just me, Tanya, my Aunt & Uncle. It was so that we could all do a bit more bonding before they leave. It was so much fun. We laughed till our faces hurt. We talked about the past, our childhoods, family that had passed on and such till we cried. It was a magical experience. Aunt Faye and Uncle Burt go home back to Texas tomorrow. It has been such a wonderful reunion with them. Us girls never really knew them well, and were (at least I was) always under the impression that they didn't like us much. Really it is just because we never got to see them growing up. We lived in Arizona and they lived in Texas. We didn't know them, and they didn't know us. Isn't it strange the perceptions that we have (or are taught) as children? And then as adults they sometimes carry over even though they are silly and juvenile. We learned so much from our Aunt and Uncle. Mainly that they love us. They have shown us so much love. More than I could have ever imagined. It was a healing visit, a bonding visit, and we will be sad to see them go. They are our last living Aunt and Uncle. But we have already made plans to go see them next year. When we get to Texas, they are going to rent a motorhome and we are all going to drive down to Mississippi and see all of our cousins whom we have not seen in over 20 years! What a fun reunion that will be. We are looking so forward to it. When it all comes down to it, in the end, Family is all you've got. Cherish it.
Now off to get the rest of my day going. And then to head of Tanya for the final goodbye lunch with Aunt Faye and uncle Burton.
