Family & The Fourth

I haven't gotten anything soapy done in days! My Aunt and Uncle from Texas flew in for the holiday and we have been having too much fun. My sister and I have not seen Aunt Faye and Uncle Burton in almost 10 years. And we have never been really close. So, Tanya (sister) and I cleaned our houses like crazy ladies before they came. Not that they were dirty, but you know how you do when company is coming. You clean the weird places that normal people don't ever clean. Like the back of a closet! Who's going to look in the back of a closet?!
Anyway, we have spent long hours chatting and getting to know one another and it has been a blast. For the 4th Aunt Faye put on all the fixins, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffed celery, watermelon, and lemon ice box pie. A true southern meal that we have not had since we were small children. Us girls were right there in the kitchen helping. We have tried to make fried chicken like Grandma made but it never turned out right. Well, Aunt Faye brought the secret ingredient; Tony Chachere's Seasoning! As soon as I saw the can I remembered seeing it in Grandma's cupboards. We can't get this seasoning here in Washington, so you can be sure that Aunt Faye will be sending some to us girls from Texas.
Anyway, we all sat around out on the deck. My family, my sisters family, my Mom, and Aunt & Uncle. Our Grandson played in the sprinkler and we all chatted and listened to Mom and Aunt Faye's childhood stories. It was a great time, and one of the best 4th of July celebrations I've ever had.

Did he eat that whole slice himselft? LOL!! Cute picture
LOL, no he had some help from his Daddy. But he did eat quite a bit of it. We were having a hard time getting him to understand to turn it the right way and eat the red part not the green part. He is only 18 months old yet. He sure did have alot of fun that day.
